30th July

EXCHANGE

Elizabeth Crossland will be hosting SUGAR CRAFT CLASSES in the Memorial Hall from September and will have at the Exchange  on 11th  from 2-30 to  provide a taster of what it entails. 
HUGH STIRLING (NHS) will be at the Exchange on September 22nd  to help anyone with hearing problems. He will us the small room  to enable him to talk in peace and quiet.
 There will be a DAMSON TEA PARTY on 29th September.  

25th July

BOWLING

BILL SHARPE won the TED INMAN TEAPOT at the match which took place last Saturday runner up was WENDY SHEPHERD.

RECREATION FIELD

The Recreation Field will be closed from 22nd to 23rd of August for much needed refurbishmet.

FLOWER SHOW

The Flower Show takes place on 7th August. Registration takes place on 3rd between 7-9pm in the Memorial Hall. Please bring your artwork and photographs on that night.

TIM FARRON

Tim Farron will be visiting the Memorial Hall on 4th August between 4 to 4.30; he will want questions!

14th July

F.R.O.C.S.  

F.R.O.C.S. have a very busy year they have rised over £3,000 whch has been used to provide full waterproofs for Nursery and Reception, paid for the coach to the pantomime at Christmas, bought a shed for the garden and contributed to the new playground equipment and to the new classroom.

There is a 100 Club for the School; if you are interested contact HELEN TODD, COWMIRE COTTAGE, CROSTHWAITE, LA8 8JJ. It costs £12 and the draw takes place every month for £25.

A FEW DATES Friday 17th Setember there will be a Barbeque and Walking Treasure Hunt at School. It is to welocme new parens but is open to all. Friday 25th October AN AUTUMN BALL from 7-30 in the Memorial Hal; Cost £25 for a three course buffet and live music.

30th June

SCHOOL

Two new teachers have been appointed for next term , they are MISS BURN and MISS GUNBY. A new classroom has been erected where Mr Johnson wil teach.

COLLECTIONS

Denise Park reports that £796.16 has been forwarded to the Children’s Society and thanks those who filled their boxes. The School received £180 from the unused clothes collection they held recently.

BOWLING

Wendy Shepherd won the Jubilee Cup played for last Saturday, the next Trophy match is for the Ted Inman and this will take place on JULY 24th.

PATHFINDERS

They are a group of young people who meet in the Vicarage, have a meal and then explore the Christian Faith. Michelle Woodcock leads the Group with other helpers; it isn’t all serious, last Monday she took them to the Morecambe Bowling Alley and she has other ideas for other social events.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to MICHELLE WOODCOCK who is soon to be ordained in Carlisle Cathedral.

GARDEN OPEN DAY

ROSTHWAITE FARM will be open on Saturday 17th July from 2.00 to 5.30, it is off the B5285 at Storrs Park near Blackwell. There will be croquet, tennis, chess, carriage drives and pony rides. Costs £5, child (5+) £2 and it is in aid of Holy Trinity Winster and St. Martins Bowness.

18th June

Floral Art Tuition

Vonnie Sharpe will be giving help and tuition on 28th June in the Memorial Hall at 2pm. It is aimed at anyone who wishes to enter the Floral Art Classes in the FLOWER SHOW; enquires contact her on 52005.

16th June

Memorial Hall AGM

The Memorial Hall A.G.M. took place with Jim Bownass presiding, he thanked all who had helped with the three money making events ensuring that the Hall Fees need not rise, he also thanked THE EXCHANGE for their generous donation and for buying more crockery and a double oven cooker, the kitchen now has a new Table and a new larger self defrosting fridge making the Hall’s Kitchen one of the best in the area. Gordon Pitt read the Positive Balance Sheet.

Garden Ramble Presentations

JOHN HANDLEY arranged a Meeting to give out the cheques to the Lyth Valley First Responders, Great North Air Ambulance and North West Air Ambulance. He thanked all the 70 volunteers who helped in this successful GARDEN RAMBLE which raised £5,000. He said he understood why Crosthwaite won the Village of the Year, his response for help had been answered by so many and Geraldine Wilson thanked all those who b baked cakes for the refreshments. The Responders received £2,500, and the Air Ambulances received £1,250 each.

5th June

SCHOOL

Sports Day will be on July 7th at 1-15pm; if wet it will be on the 8th.
The Summer Show will be on 13rh July at 6-00pm.
The Talent Show will be on 14th July.
The Leavers Service will be on 15th July at 1-15pm in St Mary’s

FLOWER SHOW

The Flower Show will take place on 7th August; schedules are now on sale at the Exchange and Bowland Bridge Post Office. The theme for the Floral Art, Photography and Painting is "Architecture, Weather, The Meeting"

Vonnie Sharpe will be holding some flower-arranging classes prior to the Show. More Details later.

CONGRATULATIONS

To CLIVE HEAP who took part in the London Marathon and raised £500 for Macmillan Nurses. To AMY RICHARDSON who has been picked to swim for CUMBRIA in Championships at Bury at the end of the Month.

INDOOR BOWLING

The Indoor Bowling season has now ended with the SINGLES FINAL; the winner was DAVID WILSON runner up was DOREEN TATLOCK. After the match there was a short committee meeting where PAT WALKER resigned as Secretary the new one will be PENNY BLAIR contact her on 68441.

SCHOOL NEWS

Miss Warren(Headmistress) requests people to fill a black  bin liner with unwanted clothes and take them to school. She has found a firm called CLOTHES LINE which will collect them and it will help the school’s finances.

She also requests people to save vouchers from Tesco and Flora for school equipment. The school has just received garden equipment from the tokens from Morrisons.

DATES

23rd March There will be A WILLOW PATTERN PLATE PERFORMANCE at 10.45am. The Juniors have been studying the subject and the performance also includes music.

25th March. An Easter Service in St Mary’s at 10-15am

26th March There will be a variety of Easter Activities at School, there will be a DECORATED EGG Competition and EGG ROLLING.

Congratulations to all the children who took part in the team mile run in aid of SPORTS RELIEF last Friday.

13th March

I have been asked to tell you about two events at THE EXCHANGE the first is on 17th March which is St Patrick's Day, there will be Irish Baking to taste and buy, try to wear green, the second is on 24th March when there will be AN EASTER PARADE, so start decorating your Hat.

There will be a Songs of Praise Service at Low Farm on 18th April, the day after DAMSON DAY and will be in a Marquee, there will be a chance to see the Puppet Show THE ANIMAL EASTER.

There will be A HOLIDAY CLUB for children on 6th April in St Mary's Church from 10-12pm, cost £1-50. Various crafts for the children. Registrtion Forms at the TWO VALLEY CHURCHES or Contact MICHELLE WOODCOCK on 68276.
