Bowls
Marilyn Shuttleworth and Doreen Tatlock played excellent Bowls through the knockout stages to win the Doubles Competion, this is only the third time 2 ladies have won. WELL DONE THE GIRLS. The Indoor Bowling Club commences in the New Year.
TV Quiz
Helen Todd organiser of the T.V. Quiz tells me the winner was Mrs Hudson (Kendal)
and 2nd was Anne Walling (Crosthwaite); all money raised went
to Playgroup funds.
The next walk for The Two Valleys Walking Group will be on 4th January, from 10.30 a.m. Meet at

Crook Morris
Crook Morris Wassail Day will be on Saturday 16th January at 1-30 p.m. the venue is John Walker's orchard, Later it will be at the Hare and Hounds, Bowland Bridge, at 3.30 p.m. There will be dancing an a performance of a Mummers Play; this will be repeated in the evening.
Shoe Boxes
11,283 boxes were dispatched to The Evangelical Baptist Church in Simferopol. Rosemary Webster thanks all who helped.

SCHOOL NEWS
It is a very busy time for the school and I have been asked to give the dates of events.
Dec. 3rd. - Advent Service in St Mary’s.
Dec. 4th. - A visit to the pantomime Wizard of Oz, at Lancaster Duke’s Playhouse
Dec. 5th. - F.R.O.C.S will be having a stall at the Christmas Fair and launching
a Recipe Book which contains 50 recipes from the School children; it will cost £5. They will
also be selling Xmas Gift Tags, Cards etc.
Dec. 6th. - Their Xmas Production will be THE MAGICAL CHRISTMAS BOX it will be held in the Memorial
Hall at 6 pm.
CHURCH NEWS
The Carol Service will be at 4.00 pm in St Mary‘s followed by mince pies and mulled wine
A CRIB AND CAROL SERVICE will be held on 24th December at 4.00 pm. There will be a chance to
see the Puppet Show THE NATIVITY, it will be followed by Florentines and drinks
Dec 25th. - The Christmas Day Service will be at 9.30 am.
No service on 27th December.
EXCHANGE
A Festive Lunch will b e served on Decemer 2nd.
On 16th December Margaret Stott
will bring Christmas wreaths and plants; there will be mince pies and mulled wine. This will
be the last meeting until January 6th.
NEW YEARS EVE -
THE NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS will take place in the Memorial Hall, there will be A SIT-DOWN
SUPPER and will cost £15; Tickets from Ivy Pearson.
2nd November
As the result of Dorothy Dobson’s 60th Birthday celebration the Air Ambulance benefited by £203-02p.
The next Two Valleys Walk will take place on 10th November at 10.30 am; contact Ann and John Radcliffe on 52107. In December the walk will be on 7th at 10.00 am - a low level walk in Langdale is planned; contact Mike Fleetwood on 68148.
There will be a Xmas Fair on December 5th from 10.00 am. Tables cost £5; contact Roger Smith on 68671. Santa will be there - hope you are!
As a result of the Housing Meeting there will be personal surgeries in the Memorial Hall with a planner from the National Park – dates and times awaited.
19th October
The Two Valleys Walking Group next walk will take place on Monday 26th October at 10.00 am. It is along Whitbarrow Scar to Lord’s Seat; meet in the lane along Witherslack Hall School at grid ref. 437859. The walk should take about 4 hours, enquiries to Pat and Gordon Howarth.
Rosemary Webster organiser of the Shoebox Appeal requests that filled boxes should be brought to the Exchange on 4th November. While yoa are there stop and have your lunch; Geraldine Wilson informs me that Soup, Roll asnd Sweet will be served until Spring. Another date for your dairy is November 11th when there will be a Craft Fair; stalls will include Vicky’s jewellery, Lizzie’s Kitchen and Garden Crafts, and Ken’s Woodcraft; there will also be a Tradecraft catalogue with Xmas Cards.
I went to the Cheese and Wine evening which celebrated getting the Cumbria Village of the Year Award; also Jim Bownass showed a Video of his visit to La Pomarède regarding the possibility of Twinning. There was a general discussion on the pros and cons, there will be another meeting when a decision will be made.
8th October
It was a sell out at last week's Exchange. Afterwards Rosemary Webster launched her Shoebox Appeal and volunteers covered boxes which she hopes will be filled and brought on 4th November to the Exchange; why not stop for your lunch? She has also asked me to publicise a Coffee Morning on 16th October in Kendal Town Hall from 9-30 am.
