Parish Council

The Crosthwaite & Lyth parish council met on Thursday 7th July. Amongst the business discussed was an issue raised by some residents about the turn-off to Crosthwaite at Totter Bank on the A5074. Overgrown bushes are impacting drivers' visibility and making the right hand turn dangerous. The clerk was asked to write to Cumbria County Council.

A representative from Cumbria County Council updated the parish council on the 541 bus that runs through Crosthwaite between Bowness and Kendal on a Wednesday. Although this bus is well used, it is running at a loss due to the number of users that have concessionary fares. Cumbria County Council is looking at new funding options for future years. In the meanwhile there is a shortfall of £3k for this year which local parishes are being asked to make up. This parish council is submitting a bid for funding fron the Local Area Partnership and enlisting the support of the parishes that the bus runs through.

The parish council plans to hold regular surgeries at the Crosthwaite Exchange. Details are being worked out with the the Exchange and will be publicised shortly.

The Localism Act requires that the parish council members' pecuniary interests are published on the website;they will be posted here shortly. In the meantime the Code and the statement saying that it has been adopted can be found by clicking on the following links.
