At a meeting on the 3rd of April it was agreed to go ahead with the formation of the the Lyth Valley First Responders Group
The group will cover Crosthwaite, Underbarrow, Levens, Brigsteer and Witherslack. Each village has appointed two members to serve on a committee to set up the Group. The Chairman is Jim Bland, Secretary John Holmes and Treasurer Careth de Gruyther from Witherslack.
The Group will be fully supported by the Ambulance Service but because of commitments to existing Groups in Cumbria, of which there are 56, they cannot start with us until September/October this year. Allowing then for a three month training and set up thus would indicate that the Group becomes Live January 09.
However there is a lot to do in the meantime. We need to achieve charitable status and start the process of fund raising to provide for the equipment that the group will require.
Whilst the Group will be administered from the Central Committee each village will operate as a team with its own village equipment and Responders. Each village need some 10/12 volunteers to become First Responders.
This is a VITAL SERVICE and was well supported in the response to the Parish Plan.
A trainer has been allocated to the Lyth Valley First Responders Group. Training is now programmed to start in early January 2009. The Registration and CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checks will start during November.
